Information from the SFdS's president

Dear all,

As you know, due to the health situation, we had to take the decision to organise the Journées de Statistique 2021, originally planned to be held in Nice from 7 to 11 June 2021, in a unique remote format.

The number of papers is as important as in other years, the prizes will be awarded, the invited speakers will be present. As promised, every effort has been made to make these virtual days as user-friendly as possible. Participants will be able to move around in a 2D virtual environment, which is fun and facilitates exchanges, developed with the Gather Town tool.

The talks can be followed with Zoom and will be accessible directly from the Gather Town platform. Also, a souvenir of Nice and a book (to be chosen from a predefined list of works from our collections) will be sent to each participant. Social activities, such as virtual visits to museums and escape games are planned.

We could not afford to lower the registration fees. Indeed, these new services have a cost and the costs already incurred (notably concerning the gala meal) will not be recovered. Also, the French Statistical Society, in the current context, has very little financial margin. I know I can count on your understanding.

Register, you will not regret it!

Yours sincerely

Jean-Michel Marin
President of the French Statistical Society
