About the JdS

Organized each year since 1970 by the French Society of Statistics (SFdS), the Journées de Statistique is the most important scientific event in the French-speaking world of statistics. Each brings together more than 400 researchers, teachers and practitioners.

The conference will be organised this year as a online event, due to the sanitary situation!

Since their creation, the Journées de Statistique have been held in France (Bordeaux 2009, Marseille 2010, Toulouse 2013, Rennes 2014, Lille 2015, Montpellier 2016, Avignon 2017, Paris-Saclay 2018, Nancy 2019), but also in Belgium (Brussels 1982, 1992 and 2012, Brussels and Louvain-la-Neuve 2002), Tunisia (Tunis 2011), Canada (Quebec 1996, Ottawa 2008), Morocco (Fès 2000) and Switzerland (Lausanne 1987, Neuchâtel 1994). ..

This year the format of the 'Journées de Statistique' has evolved and is now organized in two parts:

  • During the first 4 days of the week: usual organization with an alternation between plenary conferences and parallel sessions which bring together between 3 and 5 presentations each.

The themes of these 'Journées de Statistique' are:
       - Artificial intelligence
       - Neuroscience
       - astro-physics for statistics
       - machine learning
       - statistics and health
       - statistics and environment
       - statistics and sport

  • Friday: this day is dedicated to the organization of workshops in which you can participate on registration. The list of currently available workshops is available here.
